In a significant development, Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Tuesday announced that the state government has formally requested the Central government to cancel the diplomatic passport of Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is the primary accused in a high-profile sex video scandal.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Parameshwara affirmed the issuance of an arrest warrant for Prajwal, adding, “We have initiated the process of urging the Central government to revoke his passport. Once accomplished, Prajwal Revanna will be obliged to return to India.'”
Addressing enquiries about former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s appeal for his nephew to return and cooperate with the investigation, Dr Parameshwara described it as a personal family issue.
Responding to allegations of phone tapping, Dr Parameshwara firmly denied any involvement.
“The government has not engaged in any phone-tapping activities. Should the Deve Gowda family have suspicions to the contrary, we urge them to furnish evidence, and we are committed to conducting a thorough investigation,” he assured.
Furthermore, Dr Parameshwara mentioned that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been tasked with investigating an audio clip allegedly involving Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. “The SIT has been vested with complete authority to conduct a comprehensive investigation,” he emphasised.
Addressing claims that the Congress party is attempting to dismantle the JDS in Karnataka, the Home Minister dismissed these allegations. “Our foremost priority is to uphold good governance. The nation is closely observing the actions of the Karnataka Congress government,” he said.
