President Murmu arrives in Odisha on four-day visit

President Droupadi Mumrmu on Wednesday arrived at Mayurbhanj in Odisha by a Special Indian Air Force flight from Ranchi on a four-day visit.

Governor Raghubar Das, Additional DG of police and Mayurbhanj Collector were among others present at the temporary Helipad at Pandarshila football ground in Sukrili to receive the President.

This is her third visit to her home district after she assumed office.

Murmu was given a rousing reception on her arrival. Thousands of people including school children were present at the helipad to have a glimpse of the President.

During her four-day visit, the President is scheduled to grace several programmes in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Cuttack, Khordha, Bhubaneswar, and Sambalpur.

Soon after her arrival, she left for Ma Kichakeswari temple and offered prayers to the goddess.

Later on the day, Murmu is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of central government Holiday Home at Rairangpur, various road projects and a sports complex at Rairangpur and inaugurate Ekalavya Model Residential School at Barsahi.

On Thursday, she is scheduled to grace several programmes in Keonjhar and address the Convocation of Utkal University here in the evening.

On March 1, the President is scheduled to grace the convocation of Berhampur University, attend the golden jubilee celebration of Brahma Kumaris in Cuttack and she will witness a presentation of PM Janman by Odisha government at Raj Bhavan.

On March 2, she is scheduled to visit various places related to Santha kabi Bhima Bhoi in Ssmbalpur and meet the followers of Mahima Cult.

Authorities have made elaborate security arrangements for the smooth visit of Murmu. As many as 23 platoons of security personnel and 50 officers were deployed to oversee the security.
