Raghurama Krishna Raju elected Deputy Speaker of AP Assembly

K Raghurama Krishna Raju has been elected as Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

The Telugu Desam, Jana Sena, and the BJP unanimously elected him. He was declared elected as Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly on Thursday by Assembly Speaker Ch Ayyannapatrudu.

Raghurama Krishna Raju was initially elected to Lok Sabha from Narasapurama Parliamentary constituency in the 2019 elections on a YSRCP ticket. However, differences developed between him and the then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Raghuram Krishna Raju revolted against the YSRCP and Jagan Mohan Reddy and launched a tirade against him.

Raghurama Krishna Raju was allegedly tortured when he was in CID police custody on May 14, 2021, which created a sensation in the State. He filed many court cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy and the police using third degree when he was in police custody in the Supreme Court and the State police have begun an investigation on the case.
