Senior Indian officials brief counterparts in US, UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Russia on Op Sindoor

Date:

Senior Indian officials have spoken to their counterparts in a number of countries to brief them on the steps taken by India, in the wake of ‘Operation Sindoor’, under which India launched precision strikes against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to sources, among the countries that India has spoken to include the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Russia, the sources said.

Earlier, post midnight, the Defence Ministry in a statement said that the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.

Altogether, nine sites have been targeted.

“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution,” the statement said.

These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered.

“We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” it said.

The government is to hold a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor’ later in the day.
