Situation on northern borders ‘stable yet sensitive’: Gen Pande

Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande om Thursday said that the situation on the country’s northern borders is “stable yet sensitive”.

Addressing the annual press conference here, General Pande said, “The situation on the Northern border is stable yet sensitive. We will continue to talk at military as well as other levels. The operational preparedness is of high level and deployment is robust and balanced. We continue to focus on our capabilities along the borders and also on infrastructure such as road connectivity,” the COAS said.

“Despite all these, our nation is on the rise and today we have a secure and safe environment”, The Gen added.

Talking about the situation in J&K, the Chief of Army Staff said that infiltration incidents are happening but they have been successfully thwarted by the Army.

He further added that in the hinterland, violence had dropped in Jammu & Kashmir but in Poonch and Rajouri such incidents have increased and this was due to the tanzim organizations getting support from across the border.

Gen Pande informed that the Indian Army will observe year 2024 as “year of technology absorption”.

On enhancing Indian Army’s cyberspace capability, Gen Pande said that Command Cyber Operation and Support Wings (CCOSW) has been raised at the field Army level.
