Stop intrusion from Leh-Ladakh into Himachal: member

A member of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly from Lahaul-Spiti, Ravi Thakur, has raised concern over intrusion of people from Leh and Ladakh into the Himachal border areas at

Shinkula and Sarchu.

Raising the issue in the House during the question hour on Thursday, he sought to draw attention of the members to ongoing intrusion into the border areas of Himachal Pradesh and demanded for deployment of additional police force on the borders of the state to monitor the movement of people.

Raising a supplementary on this matter, he spoke at length about migraiton that is going in the border areas and demanded that the government should resolve the border dispute between Leh Lakdhak with Lahaul Spiti district.

He said that people of Leh-Ladakh have made intrusion by 35 kilometers in Shinkula and 14 kilometers in Sarchu border in Himachal and asked the government to take this matter seriously.

In absence of Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, Education Minister Rohit Thakur responded by saying that the border dispute with Leh-Ladakh would be resolved soon.

A meeting would be convened soon for this and the local MLA would also be called in this, he informed.

Notably, the issue of border dispute with Leh-Ladakh has been raised many times in the past also.

Thakur also made a demand for a separate police force be kept at Lahaul Spiti.
