Three women of a marriage party were killed and 12 others injured, three of them critically, when a four wheeler ran over them at Mandiapalli village under Gopalpur Police station of Ganjam district on late Tuesday night.
Police sources on Wednesday said the mishap occurred when several people on the bride’s side were waiting on the roadside to receive the bride groom.
Police said all the deceased belonged to Lanjipalli Keshabpur region.
The injured have been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur.
The four wheeler driver is absconding, leaving the vehicle on the spot. Efforts are on to nab
the driver.
Sources said the driver was inebriated and driving the vehicle at a high speed.
