Date:

A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against a social media user for issuing threats to the District Magistrate during the by-poll for Ghosi assembly seat in Mau district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Tuesday.

Police sources said that in the wake of the polling District Magistrate Arun Kumar along with the Superintendent of Police (SP) on Monday inspected the polling booths and issued necessary directives. “After inspection the DM posted some pictures on X, formerly known as twitter in the evening,” they said.

Police sources said that reacting on the pictures a threat was issued from a twitter handle in the name of Jyoti Yadav warning the DM that he will lose his job once the Samajwadi Party (SP) government was formed in the year 2026.

“I am giving a direct warning to the DM of Mau that if in any way SP voters are lathicharged or they do not get the right to vote, then remember Mr DM you will lose your job in 2026 when the SP government comes to power. Remember you will be shown your real status when the Akhilesh government will be formed,” read the message.

Police sources said that taking cognizance of the threat issued on social media in-charge of social media monitoring committee constituted by the district administration Raghvendra Pandey lodged a complaint against Jyoti Yadav at Kotwali police station on Monday night.
