A farmer was injured in an attack by a leopard in Murtiha section of Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary in Bahraich district here in Uttar Pradesh, forest department sources said here on Monday.

Sources said that Shankar (40), a resident of Bojhiya village, was attacked by the leopard on Sunday while he was guarding his crop. “The leopard probably strayed from the forest and attacked the farmer. Shankar somehow rescued himself and raised an alarm after which the leopard went back into the forest,” they said.
