A 22-year-old woman was allegedly killed after rape in Chowk Kotwali area of Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said here on Friday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Kumar Meena said the victim worked as a nurse in a private hospital. Her body was recovered from a hotel room.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the room in which the body was found was taken on rent by one, Shubham Shukla, on Thursday evening,” he said.
He said that after sometime of checking in, Shukla left the hotel on the pretext of buying food.
Later when an employee of the hotel went to check the room he found the body on the floor of the washroom, he added.
Meena said that a case of rape and murder has been lodged on the complaint of the family members. “Three teams have been constituted to arrest the accused,” he said.
