Three persons, including a girl, were arrested by the police for their involvement in the murder of a 77-year-old man in Mankapur area of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, a senior police officer said here.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vineet Jaiswal said that on July 20, Pateshwari, a resident of Bharahubhatta village, was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon and was murdered.
“A case was lodged on the complaint of the family members and a team was constituted,” he said.
The SP said that Rinka Chauhan, Akhilesh and Salman were arrested near the fire station in Mankapur today and the murder weapon was recovered.
“The accused Rinka told the police that her grandfather Pateshwari was evicting her from the property and transferring all the property to the other grandson. Angered by this, she along with her friend Dinesh got her grandfather killed to get rid of him. The police are searching for the absconding accused Dinesh,” he said.
