Utter mismanagement of Railway Ministry; Kharge, Rahul on Kanchanjunga train mishap

Date:

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday expressed shock over the Kanchanjunga train mishap in Jalpaiguri that left 8 dead and injuring over two dozen and slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “utter mismanagement of the Railway Ministry”.

On a post on social media X, Kharge said, “Extremely distressed by the Kanchanjunga Express train collision accident in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, where many people have lost their lives and several have been injured”.

Calling the accident scenes as painful, the Congress President said that the party, in this hour of grief, express solidarity and condolences to each one of them while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

“Today’s tragedy is yet another reminder of this stark reality. Make no mistake, we will remain persistent with our questions and shall make the Modi Govt accountable for its criminal abandonment of the Indian Railways,” Kharge said.

The Rajya Sabha MP said, “In the past 10 years, Modi Govt has indulged in the utter mismanagement of the Railway Ministry. As a responsible Opposition, it is our bounden duty to underline how the Modi Govt has systematically converted the Rail Ministry into a platform of ‘Camera-driven’ self-promotion!”

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi while terming the incident as extremely sad slammed the government saying that rise in train accidents were “result of mismanagement and negligence.”

“Today’s accident is another example of this reality – as a responsible opposition, we will continue to question this blatant negligence and hold the Modi government accountable for these accidents,” Gandhi said in a post on X.
