Youth being arrested in south Kashmir ahead of LS election: Mehbooba Mufti

Date:

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday alleged that youth are being arrested from south Kashmir ahead of the Parliament election.

The PDP President is contesting from Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary seat against the National Conference candidate Mian Altaf, Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Mohammad Saleem and Apni Party’s Zafar Manhas.

“I came to know that youth from Anantnag, Bijbehara, Pulwam and Shopian are being arrested ahead of the Parliament election”, Mehbooba told media persons in south Kashmir. She said that nobody is talking about them or who will talk.

The former JK Chief Minister said that PDP is the lone party who will raise the issues of the youth in the Parliament.

“What are the challenges and issues Jammu and Kashmir facing today and who will raise them in the Parliament. The people are gradually understanding that PDP has raised the tough issues of the people during the past five years and in the coming time it will also plead these issues in the Parliament”, Mufti said.

She said there were three members of National Conference in the Parliament and during the past five years they never stood and raised the issues of the people of Kashmir.

“If anybody did, it was PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti who spoke outside the Parliament and raised the issues of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, Mehbooba said.

She claimed that people now feel that only PDP can resolve the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
