Agartala, December 25, 2022: “If there is one field of life which teaches the most valuable lesson about perseverance patience in fact what constitutions a perfect character it is sports. Thus on Saturday last, Bhavans Tripura Vidya Mandir organised annual sports meet and prize giving ceremony in the school premise.
After a hiatus of 3 years due to the lingering fear of the COVID-19 pandemic, the school organised one of its most signature events. The annual sports meet embodies the zeal, talents and spirit of BTVM, encouraging them to be persistent and to refine their talents, achieving the greatest of the heights.
The most awaited event of the year commenced with the arrival of the highly distinguished chief guest Dr Rameshwar Das, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Managing Director of the Tripura Forest Department Corporation. Krishnendu Chakravertty, IPS, Assistant IGP was the Guest of Honour.
Timir Chanda, Vice-President of the TCA and Saraju Chakraborty, joint Secretary of the TCS were the special guests. Debashis Chakraborty was the president of the event. Director GV Subramanian, Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Agartala Kendra graced the occasion by his gracious presence.
After the lighting of the sacred torch by the Chief Guest sports flag and school flag were hoisted by chief guest and guest of honour. Opening statement was given by Swapna Shome, Principal of the BTVM delivering the importance of sports to lead a healthy life. After keynote speeches by the dignitaries vote of appreciation was given by Pompi Majumdar, Headmistress of the BTVM.
Declaration of the sports meet was announced by the chief guest followed by the releasing of pigeons and other sports activities. There was a short but colourful cultural program and oath taking ceremony by Bhavan’s students. One of the eye-catching events of the day was the inauguration of Boutique centre and Chef’s Corner which displayed the creative skills of the Bhavanites.
There were more than 70 events. There were recreational games for parents, teachers and all the staffs of BTVM. Srabani Debnath, ex-women cricketer, BCCI Level ‘B’ coach under 19 Fielding coach was felicitated today. The students who were the winners of inter-school cricket tournament 2022 were felicitated. Prizes were distributed for different events under different houses. All the sports persons has shown their true spirit of sportsmanship. The day ended with national anthem.
