Indian rifle shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar on Saturday clinched the gold medal in men’s 50m Rifle 3 position event while Pistol shooter Manu Bhaker missed out on a medal in women 25m pistol event.
Tomar defeated Hungary’s Zalan Peklar 16-12 to finish on top of the podium. He also topped the qualification with a brilliant 593 points to advance to the ranking round.
In the ranking stage, the 21-year old shot 409.8 to finish on top ahead of Hungary’s Peklar, who finished second with 406.7 points.
In the women 25m Pistol event, Indian shooting prodigy Bhaker, however, missed out on a medal after finishing fourth in the medal match with 9 points. She shot 581 in the qualification round to finish eight. Later she topped the ranking stage with the best score of 18 but his run fell short in the final.
Singapore bagged two medals as Xiu Hong Teh bagged the pole position with 28 points finished third with 19. France’s Mathilde Lamolle got silver with 21 points.
India maintained its top spot on the medal tally with 9 medals ( 4 gold, 4 silver and a bronze) with host Korea on second with three golds and a silver. Serbia sits third with three gold medals to its kitty.
