Odisha government will promote Kho Kho and sponsor the National Kho Kho team for three years, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Saturday.
It is a golden time for the ‘Kho Kho’ game in the country, Majhi said, adding that the state government will provide encouragement to this game.
Odisha had previously sponsored the National Hockey Game, and now Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has come forward to promote the Kho Kho game.
As per the decision of the Chief Minister, the state government will sponsor the National Team of ‘Kho Kho’ game for the next 3 years.
The period of this sponsorship will be from January 2025 to December 2027.
Official sources said a total of Rs 15 crore will be spent for sponsoring the National Kho Kho at Rs.5 crore every year.
This amount will be provided by the Odisha Mining Corporation.
This will not only encourage Indian Kho Kho players, but Odisha can also enhance the state’s image globally through branding in national and international sports, official sources said.
