India’s former batsman Pranab Roy has been named to coach Bengal cricket under-25 for the coming seasons, a day after the CAB appointed India’s former all-rounder Laxmi Ratan Shukla to train Bengal’s senior side for seasons 2022-23.
Announcing this CAB president Avishek Dalmiya said: “He ( Pranab Roy) was an accomplished cricketer in his time. He knows the supply line and youngsters look up to him. He will get well and we are confident he will be able to deliver.”
Son of cricketing great Pankaj Roy, 65-year-old junior Roy, who had played two Tests for India in the early 80s against England and scored 71 runs.
Talking about his appointment, Pranab Roy said, “I thank Avishek Dalmiya and Snehashis Ganguly for giving me this opportunity. I am confident that I will be able to bring a difference to the U25 team and take them to the next level. I welcome this opportunity given to me to serve Bengal cricket.”
