The Intercontinental Cup 2024 trophy was unveiled at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium here on Friday night after the completion of the match between Syria and Mauritius.
The Cup was unveiled by Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Speaker, Telangana Legislative Assembly in a simple but impressive ceremony.
The head coaches of the three participating teams, Manolo Marquez (India), Jose Maria Lana Fernandez (Syria), and Guillaume Luc Moullec (Mauritius), were present during the unveiling.
Present at the trophy unveil were AP Jithender Reddy, special representative at Delhi and Advisor, Sports, Shiva Sena Reddy, Chairman, Sports Authority of Telangana, A. Sonibala Devi, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director, Sports Authority of Telangana, and Dr. S Venugopal Chary, Acting President, Telangana Olympic Association.
The speaker shared a few cordial words with the three head coaches after the unveiling.
The last time international football was hosted in the city, was back in 2008, in the AFC Challenge Cup at the same venue.
