14 Indians rescued from cyber-scam centres in Laos

The Indian embassy in Laos rescued 14 Indian youths from cyber security scam centers located in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (SEZ), officials said on Wednesday.

Officials of the embassy in Laos said they are working with the Laos authorities to ensure their safe return to India.

The embassy, in a post on X, stated that they have successfully rescued 14 Indian youth and till now 548 youths have been rescued from these fake scams.

The embassy in Laos issued an advisory to Indian nationals warning them against the fake job offers related to digital sales and marketing or customer support services by dubious companies engaged in call-center or cryptocurrency scams operating from Dubai, Bangkok and Singapore.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone of Laos in July and discussed trafficking of Indian nationals via cyber scam operations, the embassy said.
