Asked to show proof of Indian jets shot down, Pakistani Defence Minister says ‘it’s all over social media’

Date:

Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif cut a sorry figure when he was unable to back his country’s claim of shooting down five Indian fighter jets.

Asked by CNN during an interview, “where is the evidence of five Indian fighter jets being shot down?”

Asif said: “It’s all over social media, Indian social media, not our social media. The wreckage of these fighter jets fell down in Indian territory, and its all over Indian social media.”

Asked by CNN “very specifically of details of the evidence”, and if there was any Chinese equipment used in downing “Rafale jets”, as claimed by Pakistan, Asif said, the Indian planes were downed in “a dog fight by Pakistani jets”.

India has rubbished all such Pakistani claims as part of Pakistani propaganda unleashed in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, that India launched early on Wednesday to demolish terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Asif also warned that if tensions escalate further, there was “a real danger of nuclear war”.

Islamabad has termed the cross-border strikes by India as a “blatant act of war”.

Islamabad said six Pakistani locations were targeted, with two dozen weapon impacts, which led to 31 deaths of civilians and the wounding of 57 others.

He stressed that “the risk of nuclear conflict is real and cannot be ignored”.
