Bus crash in Russia’s Far East leaves 14 dead , 7 injured

Fourteen people were killed and seven others injured when a shift bus plunged off a cliff in Russia’s Republic of Sakha early Monday morning, local authorities said.

The accident occurred at around 3:20 a.m. local time (1820 GMT Sunday) on a road operated by Denisovsky Mining and Processing Plant, according to a statement from the regional interior ministry.

The vehicle, which was carrying over 30 people, veered off a road and overturned after plunging about 25 meters, the statement said.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the driver was among those killed in the crash. Of the seven injured, two were in serious condition.

Emergency response teams deployed 44 people and 13 units of equipment to assist with the aftermath.
