Colombia, China sign 12 agreements to expand strategic partnership

Date:

Colombia and China have entered into 12 new cooperation agreements in the fields of economics, technology, science, education and culture, the Colombian presidential administration said on Wednesday.

“Colombia and China advanced in the construction of trade relations and solid and ambitious cooperation with the signing of 12 documents in economic, investment, commercial, technological, environmental, scientific, educational and cultural areas,” the administration said in a statement, following President Gustavo Petro’s visit to Beijing.

The statement added that the agreements would help expand access of Colombian agricultural products to the Chinese market, and also encourage Chinese investment in industry and infrastructure, with priority for the development of railway transport.

In addition, China will support the transformation and digital economy, as well as data protection and security in Colombia, the statement added.
