The president of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, was injured while riding a motorbike and taken to a hospital for observation, the president’s office said on social media.
“The injuries are not serious but will require a brief observation in the hospital,” the office said on X on Thursday.
The president has been taken to the Military University Hospital in Prague, the office added.
The office said it will provide more information when available.
The president’s spokesman, Vit Kolar, said in a televised appearance on Czech TV that Pavel would spend several days in hospital, but it would not affect his work schedule.
Radio Prague International reported that the 62-year-old president is a “keen motorcyclist,” and did not give up his hobby even after being elected president in March 2023. The president rides a German-made BMW R1200GS.
