) Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, are highly likely to hold telephone talks in the nearest future, but the exact date will not be announced in advance, a source in the Turkish presidential office told Sputnik.
On Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the date of the meeting between the Russian president and his Turkish counterpart had not been determined yet, adding that the leaders could agree on a phone call in a matter of hours if necessary.
“The leaders of our countries and the relevant agencies are in regular contact, the heads of state have established a very trusting relationship. As for the negotiations, we have already told you that an in-person meeting of the leaders is being arranged. Concerning the phone talks in the nearest time, they are very likely but we will not announce the exact dates,” the source said.
In December, a source in the Turkish president’s office told Sputnik that the meeting between Putin and Erdogan was in the works, although there were no details on the date and place of the meeting yet. Putin said he was going to meet with his Turkish counterpart in early 2024.
