Indonesia appreciates Russia’s stance on Middle East: Russian Ambassador

Indonesia highly appreciates Russia’s stance on the Middle East and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov told Sputnik.
“In today’s emerging multipolar world, Russia and Indonesia are of one mind when it comes to emerging challenges and threats, as well as addressing pressing global and regional issues in full compliance with the UN Charter and other universally recognized principles of international law… Jakarta particularly appreciates the alignment of our positions on the Middle East peace process, in particular on the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” the ambassador said in an interview marking the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.
He added that Russia and Indonesia were cooperating constructively on key peace and security initiatives, including efforts to prevent an arms race in outer space, combat international terrorism, extremism, cybercrime, and all forms of neocolonialism. Moscow and Jakarta also stand in solidarity against attempts to politicize specialized UN agencies, the ambassador added.
