Israel has struck three Hamas facilities in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Twitter.
“An IDF UAV struck 2 military posts belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza, adjacent to areas from where violent riots were taking place and from which incendiary balloons were launched, adjacent to the Gaza security fence,” the IDF said.
It said an IDF tank struck an additional Hamas military post.
“An IDF tank struck an additional Hamas military post near the location from which shots were fired at IDF troops,” the Israel Defense Forces said.
The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that 28 Palestinians were injured on Friday in clashes with the Israeli army on the border of the Gaza Strip.
Residents of the enclave have been regularly rioting on the border with Israel in recent days, with Palestinians throwing explosive devices at the Israeli military and burning tires. Israeli soldiers respond by dispersing demonstrators and sometimes opening fire on rioters.
The unrest comes amid the closure of the Erez Crossing, through which Palestinians with Israeli work permits can leave the enclave.
