Nepali Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli returned home after leading the Nepali delegation to the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA, media reports said.
Oli was greeted by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, and Deputy Prime Ministers Prakash Man Singh and Bishnu Prasad Paudel at Tribhuvan International Airport’s VVIP lounge, a Nepali media outlet, the Himalayan reported.
According to reports, Oli attended US President Joe Biden’s reception in New York, addressed the Conference of Least Developed Countries, and participated in the second High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance.
He also held bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other global leaders on the sidelines.
Accompanying him were his spouse Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Political Advisor Bishnu Rimal, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and senior officials, the report added.
Oli attended the UNGA session on September 24-30 at the UN Headquarters and addressed the General Assembly on September 26.
The session’s theme was “Leaving no one behind: Acting together for peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations.”
