Three security men were killed and four others injured in a bomb attack in the Kalat region of Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Saturday night, officials said.
According to the officials, an explosive device that was set along a road in Kalat town’s Dashat Mehmood neighbourhood by an unknown individual exploded as a car carrying Frontier Corps (FC) members drove by.
Under condition of anonymity, a senior police official revealed, “As a result of the powerful explosion, at least three security men lost their lives and four others were seriously injured.”
Police and firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion and took the injured and dead to the district hospital in Kalat.
“A locally made explosive device was used for the blast,” the police officer said.
According to Pakistan’s leading media outlet Dawn, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
