US President Donald Trump on Tuesday congratulated Polish opposition candidate Karol Nawrocki on winning the presidential election in Poland, calling him his “ally.”
“TRUMP ALLY WINS IN POLAND, SHOCKING ALL IN EUROPE. Congratulations Poland, you picked a WINNER!” the US president said on Truth Social.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also extended congratulations to Nawrocki, emphasizing the potential for strengthening the US-Poland relations.
“Congratulations to President-elect Karol Nawrocki on a hard-earned victory as a new chapter begins in Poland. Together, the United States and Poland will forge the most ambitious alliance in our shared history on defense, energy, and commerce,” Rubio said on X.
According to data from the Polish election commission, Nawrocki won 50.89% of the vote in the second round of the presidential election held on Sunday, defeating the ruling coalition’s Rafal Trzaskowski, who garnered 49.11%.
