UAE president, Syrian leader discuss bilateral ties, regional stability in phone call

Date:

United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke on Sunday with Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, the UAE’s state news agency WAM reported.

According to the report, the two leaders reviewed ways to enhance cooperation for the benefit of both countries and exchanged views on regional issues of shared interest.

Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE’s support for efforts to ensure Syria’s stability, development, and a secure, prosperous future.

Syria’s state news agency SANA said Al-Sharaa stressed the importance of continued coordination with the UAE, praising Abu Dhabi’s support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its role in promoting regional stability amid mounting challenges.

Al-Sharaa made his first visit to the UAE on April 13, where he met Sheikh Mohamed and discussed bilateral ties and regional developments. Following the meeting, the UAE resumed flights to Syria, which had been suspended in early January after conflict erupted surrounding the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad.
