US military post in Jordan likely failed to detect drone that killed 3 troops

Date:

Early findings show that the US military outpost in northeast Jordan, known as Tower 22, likely failed to detect a drone that killed three American troops, the Washington Post reported, citing US Defence Department officials familiar with the matter.

Last week, three US soldiers were killed and more than 40 were injured in a drone attack on the US military outpost in northeast Jordan, near the border with Syria.

The report said on Tuesday that the drone may have been able to evade detection through its low-fly path.

Moreover, the report said the US military outpost was not equipped with an air defence system capable of shooting down the drone.

The US officials said the investigation is ongoing and the findings are subject to change, the report added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pentagon deputy spokesperson Sabrina Singh told reporters she had no update on the attack, adding that the assessment was ongoing.
