Agartala, 19th November 2025: Panic gripped residents of Gandacherra after the body of a young man was recovered from a pond adjacent to Gandacherra Class XII English Medium School this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran Majhi, a native of Bihar. He had come to Gandacherra with his father to work as a laborer at a local brick kiln.
Police sources said, Majhi had been missing since November 17. Despite extensive searches by his family and co-workers, no trace of him was found. The recovery of his body floating in the pond shocked local residents, who immediately informed Gandacherra police station. Officers arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and confirmed his identity.
Police officials stated that Majhi was mute and deaf, and reportedly suffered from certain mental health issues. However, the circumstances of his death remain unclear. Preliminary examination revealed no visible injury marks on the body, leaving investigators uncertain whether he accidentally fell into the pond or if other factors were involved.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police said the exact cause of death will be determined once the report is available. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked tension and unease in the area.
