Agartala, 5th July 2025:  In a scathing address aimed at opposition parties, former Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik criticized the CPIM alleging that the party’s 25-year rule in Tripura was marked by electoral politics with little regard for actual development. Speaking at an administrative camp held at Monai Pathar Nabakumar Chowdhury Para High School under Kathalia block, Bhoumik highlighted the BJP government’s focus on comprehensive tribal welfare since taking office.

Referring to opposition critiques of the government, Bhowmik stated, “Kichar mein kamal khilta hai” (Lotus blooms in the mud), implying that criticism only strengthens BJP’s resolve and public support. She accused the CPIM of simultaneously benefiting from central and state government welfare schemes while launching attacks against the very government implementing them.

The administrative outreach was held as part of the Dharti Aaba Janajati Utkarsha Abhiyan, a tribal empowerment campaign. Bhoumik outlined various initiatives undertaken by both the central and state governments to uplift tribal communities, emphasizing that the BJP does not engage in politics for votes but for inclusive development across all sections of society.

Also present at the event were MDC Padmalochan Tripura, MLA Bindu Debnath, Kathalia Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Mithu Rani Das, and other local officials. During the camp, departments including Agriculture and Fisheries distributed certificates and extended support to beneficiaries, particularly those engaged in the local fishing community known as beneficiaries.
