Agartala, 14th July 2025: A fresh incident of theft has once again raised serious concerns over the deteriorating state of nighttime security in the state. Residents and business owners, particularly vehicle owners, continue to feel vulnerable amid rising cases of burglary.
Late last night in Khowai’s Ganki locality, miscreants reportedly stole the battery from a goods vehicle parked roadside. The theft came to light early Monday morning when the vehicle’s owner, Prasenjit Shukla Baidya, discovered the missing battery.
According to sources, Prasenjit routinely parks his commercial vehicle near his residence. On Sunday, he left the vehicle around 7 PM as per his daily habit. The following morning, around 5 AM, he noticed the battery had been stolen and promptly reported the matter to Khowai police station.
Police have registered a theft case and launched an investigation. No arrests had been reported till the time of filing.
Speaking to reporters, Prasenjit shared, “I’ve owned this vehicle for five years and always parked it here. This is the first time something like this has happened. It’s alarming.” Residents of the area echoed his concern, expressing growing fear over repeated thefts and the lack of effective nighttime patrolling.
