Agartala, 14th July 2025: With the theme ‘Swapna Udaan’ (Wings of Dreams), Shivnagar Modern Club and Amra Tarun team have kicked off preparations for this year’s Durga Puja festivities with the ceremonial Khunti Puja, marking the beginning of pandal construction. The announcement was made in the presence of several dignitaries, including local MP Rajib Bhattacharjee.
Addressing the gathering, MP Bhattacharjee reflected on the evolving culture of Durga Puja in the state. “There was a time when clubs were more concerned with displays of physical strength and arms. Today, the BJP government has redefined that tradition—now the focus is on which club contributes more meaningfully to social causes,” he stated.
He emphasized the growing participation of women in club activities, calling it a powerful symbol of social progress and safety. “Women working shoulder to shoulder with men in organizing these festivals shows how much priority the government has given to gender inclusion—something that was unimaginable in the past,” Bhattacharjee added.
Highlighting Shivnagar Modern Club and Amra Tarun as two of the capital’s most prominent Puja organizers, he expressed confidence that this year’s celebration will once again captivate the public. “Every year, these clubs create immense excitement among devotees. I’m hopeful they’ll deliver another spellbinding Durga Puja experience,” said the MP.
Notably, Shivnagar Modern Club has earmarked a budget of Rs 30 lakh for this year’s Durga Puja festivities.
