Biplab Deb Calls ‘Mann Ki Baat’ a Guiding Light, Urges CPI(M) to Tune In and Reflect

Agartala, 27th July 2025:    Former Tripura Chief Minister and sitting Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat as more than just a radio program — calling it a “moral compass” capable of guiding even the ideologically lost.

Addressing reporters in Agartala after listening to the 124th episode, Deb said that the CPI(M), which he accused of losing political and social direction, should begin listening to the program to gain clarity. “They don’t work. They turned the people into cadres without duties or purpose. When someone neither works nor takes initiative, how can they claim to be human?” he said.

According to Deb, Mann Ki Baat transcends party lines, caste, and religion — offering insights that even the Opposition can benefit from, if heard with sincerity. “It’s a platform that speaks about real issues, inspires people to work for the nation, and even offers former extremists a way to rebuild their lives,” he noted.

To underline his point, Deb cited the story of a former Naxalite in Jharkhand’s Gumla who renounced violence, embraced fishery as a livelihood, and helped uplift 150 families who were once part of the insurgent network. “That is the transformative power of positive leadership,” Deb said, adding pointedly, “The final stage of communism is Naxalism.”
