Agartala, 7th August 2025:  The tragic road accident at Chakmaghat in Teliamura that claimed the life of youth Mihir Lal Debnath has cast a long shadow over Kanchanpur, where grief now hangs heavy in the air. Mihir’s dead body returned home bringing with it not just sorrow, but a profound sense of incompleteness and loss that has shaken the community.

Around a dozen transport workers from Niljyoti Travels along with members of the Tripura Tourism Development Forum visited Mihir’s residence today. Led by Niljyoti Travels Director Sanjib Acharya, the group offered emotional and financial support to Mihir’s bereaved parents.

“Mihir was one of us, part of our extended transport family. We have lost one of your children, but hundreds of children will be by your side,” said Acharya

The Niljyoti team handed over an initial assistance of Rs 21,000 to Mihir’s family assuring them that their support would not be limited to a single day. “This is not just sympathy, it’s a promise. We will stand by you in every need,” Acharya added.

Acharya also used the occasion to deliver a poignant message to the wider transport community. “The wheels of a vehicle do not just carry passengers rather they carry the dreams of families. A moment’s carelessness can empty a mother’s lap forever,” he said.

He further emphasized the need for society to show empathy and support toward transport workers. “Drivers are not just steering vehicles they are carrying the weight of society. Let us not forget their humanity.”
