Agartala, 14th August 2025:  A court employee has lodged a formal police complaint alleging harassment by a staff member at the Agartala Passport Seva Kendra during a routine passport renewal visit.

Jakir Miah, the complainant reported that he arrived at the center on the morning of August 11 with all necessary documents. During the verification process, he was allegedly subjected to rude remarks and humiliating behavior by one of the staff members. The incident prompted Miah to file a written complaint at East Agartala Police Station, which was registered the same day.

“I am a court employee. Such humiliation and harassment while visiting a government office is unacceptable. I demand strict action against the offender,” Miah stated.

Local residents claim that such behavior is not uncommon at the verification stage, with several applicants reportedly facing hostility and intimidation over minor queries. While verbal complaints are frequent, few are formally documented, allowing alleged misconduct to persist unchecked.

Sources close to Miah indicated that he is prepared to escalate the matter to the High Court if necessary.

As of now, officials at the Passport Seva Kendra have not issued a public statement regarding the incident. The complaint has sparked renewed concerns over staff conduct and applicant safety at the facility.
