‘Bike Bahini’ threatens Congress workers to leave party at Nehal Chandranagar

Agartala, December 31, 2022: For the crime of supporting Congress party, three residents of Nehal Chandra Nagar were attacked in their houses and received threat from ‘Bike Bahini’ in the dark of the night on Friday last. Later, those three Congress workers approached Bishalgarh police station. This incident triggered tension has spread in Nehal Chandranagar area of Kamalasagar assembly constituency.

It is alleged that the ruling party-backed ‘Bike Bahini’ of about 60 youths entered the house of Sentu Sarkar in Lembutuli area around 9 PM on Friday last and started threatening. At that time, Sentu Sarkar was not at home. They informed his wife to tell Sentu for leaving the area if he continues to support Congress party. Later, Sentu Sarkar was forcibly dragged to Dulal Sarkar’s house in Nehal Chandranagar area. As Dulal Sarkar was not at home at that time, his house was attacked pelting bricks and stones and vandalized the gate of the house. Later, the alleged ruling party youths went to the house of third Congress worker Saral Debbarma and threatened him with a stern warning to meet the party office in the morning. Otherwise the consequences would be dire.

Meanwhile, the three Congress workers visited Bishalgarh police station and police personnel visited Nehal Chandranagar at night.

On the other hand, Congress worker Dulal Sarkar said that two BJP workers had accompanied them to the Agartala Congress rally three days back claiming that they won’t support BJP any more and it started from that day itself.

Meanwhile, as soon as this news spread, Kamalasagar Block Congress President Pradip Chowdhury, former Block President Chitta Sutradhar, Block Youth Congress President Nantu Sarkar and others rushed to the house of three Congress workers on Saturday morning. Later, the leaders condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of the accused ruling party cadres.
