Agartala, 20th August 2025: A man was reportedly assaulted by his nephew over a land-related dispute, triggering widespread unrest in the Purba Lambu area of Kamalpur.
According to family members, the accused, identified as Ankon Das, allegedly attacked his maternal uncle, Parimal Das (48), with a sharp weapon, inflicting injuries to his neck. The incident occurred on Wednesday and has since sparked tension across the locality.
Sources said the injured was rushed to Kamalpur BSM Hospital in a vehicle typically used by the District Magistrate, after being brought from Kalachhari. Parimal Das is reportedly the elder brother-in-law of the District Magistrate.
Despite the gravity of the incident, locals and family members have remained tight-lipped, and no official statements have been made. Hospital authorities confirmed that police were informed, but no officers had arrived at the facility as of late evening.
The alleged attack and the silence surrounding it have stirred concern and speculation throughout the region. Authorities are yet to issue a formal response.
