Agartala, 2nd September 2025: Tipra Motha MLA Philip Kumar Reang has filed an FIR against two persons including Pratik Dev Varma , son of the Telangana Governor and former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma for allegedly abusing the MLA in an condition of intoxication yesterday late night.
The MLA has filed the FIR with New Capital Complex Police station in which he alleged that yesterday night when he was engaged in a discussion with his family members regarding family issues. At that moment three persons appeared near the stirs of my Government Quarter No-209 (MLA Hostel, Near ILS Hospital) and wrongfully restrained me and started interference in his family discussion.
“I have requested them to leave the place & let me stay alone in my place. They become more aggressive in nature and have started uttering violent, abusive words targeting me mentioning the split my throat. They clearly threatened me to kill and said that they would bring more 400 to 500 BJP Workers to kill me and my family members. The said 03(Three) persons came out from the MLA Hostel Room of Promode Reang, MLA Santirbazar Assembly Constituency”, he said.
The MLA further said that it is pertinent to mention here that they committed such unexpected incident with me without any instigation on my part. There was an unseen deep rooted criminal conspiracy, which leads to the eminent threat of my life on last night.
“Finding no other alternative, I instantly rush to the Government Quarter of MLA Biswajit Kalai to save my life as well as prestige under extreme compulsion. Thus, I could save my life and prestige on last night as the family members of MLA Biswajit Kalai awarded me shelter. As such, I alongwith my family members become entirely insecure following the expressed threat of the three miscreants. Under such situation, I do hereby lodge this complain before your kindself to take appropriate legal action as per law to secure the life and property of me and my family member”, the FIR reads.
