Agartala, 8th September 2025 : A discussion meeting aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation was held today at Agartala Town Hall, organized by the Tripura State Blood Transfusion Board. Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar inaugurated the event.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Majumdar emphasized the vital role of blood in society, stating that “the need for blood is one of the most important requirements in our community. Therefore, blood donation should be carried out consistently.” He further described blood donation as “the highest form of service to humanity,” noting that it creates a unique bond between the donor and the recipient.
The Mayor encouraged all clubs, social organizations, and youth societies in the city to actively participate in blood donation drives. He also particularly urged women to come forward and contribute to this life-saving cause. During the event, AMC North Zone Zonal Chairman Pradeep Chand highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation in sustaining a healthy society.
Also present were Mayor-in-Council Hiralal Debnath, Mayor-in-Council Bapi Das, social worker Asim Bhattacharya, Deputy Director of the Department of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Dr. Subhasish Roy, along with members of various clubs and social organizations under the Agartala Municipal Corporation.The meeting concluded with a call to action for all citizens to participate in blood donation drives regularly, emphasizing that such acts of generosity save countless lives every year.
