Agartala, 8th September 2025 : In a bid to promote self-reliance and boost rural livelihoods, the Mohanpur Animal Resource Development Department, in collaboration with the Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti, organized a piglet distribution event at the Panchayat Samiti office premises.
As part of the initiative, 25 selected beneficiaries from across the Mohanpur block received two- to three-month-old high-yield piglets. The total expenditure for the program amounted to Rs 1.25 lakh, aimed at supporting families in developing sustainable income sources through livestock rearing.
The event was attended by Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti Chairman Rakesh Deb, several local panchayat heads and deputy heads, and Dr. Bidhan Chandra Das, Assistant Director of the Animal Resource Development Department.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Rakesh Deb emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering every household. “The goal is to make families self-sufficient standing on their own feet through their own income, rather than depending on others,” he said.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, noting that the piglets would play a significant role in improving their household earnings in the near future.
