Agartala, 18th September 2025:  Kailashahar witnessed a massive political mobilization today as the District Congress organised a protest march and public rally under the banner of the ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhor’ campaign. The demonstration began at Paitur Bazar with a symbolic elephant procession and culminated at Netaji Corner drawing thousands of participants.

Kailashahar MLA Birajit Sinha, District Congress President Badruzzaman, Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha, AICC General Secretary Christopher Tilak, former TPCC President and MLA Gopal Roy, and Pradesh Youth Congress President Neel Kamal Saha.

Addressing the rally, Badruzzaman alleged widespread corruption in Kailashahar’s public works and water resource departments, accusing officials of mafia-style operations under the guise of e-tendering. He also condemned the reported theft of a tender box from RGM Hospital, claiming the current government has institutionalised commission-based dealings.

MLA Sinha echoed Rahul Gandhi’s anti-corruption stance, vowing to lead a “nuclear-level” agitation against injustice. He accused a powerful minister from Unakoti district of submitting a fake educational certificate during nomination and claimed the concealment of facts renders the minister ineligible for office. Sinha also levelled serious allegations against the Kailashahar Municipal Chairperson, alleging misuse of power and the presence of a money-counting machine at her residence to handle illicit funds.

AICC’s Christopher Tilak criticised the Modi government, citing alleged instances of “note theft” during demonetisation, “MLA poaching” from opposition parties, and attempts to alter the Constitution.

PCC President Saha claimed the BJP’s tally of 240 seats was inflated and fell short of its 400-seat target, asserting the party came to power through unconstitutional means.

Speakers unanimously called for safeguarding democracy, the Constitution, and electoral integrity. Observers described the rally as one of the largest political gatherings in recent memory.
