Agartala, 20th September 2025:   Former Tripura Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Communist leadership, accusing them of disregarding the cultural and spiritual sentiments of the people during their decades-long rule. Speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party protest rally held at Kamini Kumar Singh Memorial School grounds in Agartala, Deb claimed that no communist chief minister had ever visited the revered Tripureshwari Temple, calling it a “misfortune for Tripura.”

The protest organized by the 9-Banamalipur Mandal, was aimed at countering alleged slander and propaganda by opposition parties. Addressing party workers and supporters, Deb said, “Communists only find fault in people and society. That is their job. That is why the people of Tripura have sent them away completely. They will never return.”

He contrasted the BJP’s approach to governance with that of the Left, referring to the communists as the “Emergency Party” and accusing them of engaging in politics for its own sake. “The BJP does politics in the interest of the people,” he asserted.

Highlighting the upcoming inauguration of the renovated Tripureshwari Temple by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 22, Deb noted that the central government had allocated ₹38 crore and the state government ₹16 crore for infrastructure improvements. He emphasized the temple’s significance across caste, tribal, and religious lines, stating that even Muslim residents of the state visit the shrine.

Deb criticized former Left leaders Dasharath Deb, Nripen Chakraborty, and Manik Sarkar for allegedly never visiting the temple during their tenure. “They have only known cadre politics, not the faith of the people,” he said.

Also present at the rally were BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya, city Sadar district president Asim Bhattacharya, 9-Banamalipur Mandal president Arindam Chowdhury, and other party workers. As part of the event, new clothes were distributed to 1,000 mothers and workers ahead of Sharad Utsav and Diwali celebrations.
