Agartala, 20th September 2025:   The condition of the electricity corporation office in Fatikroy has come under sharp criticism from staff, who describe it as worse than a thatched hut. A female DRW (Daily Rated Worker) employed at the office voiced her frustration to the media personnel, citing years of government apathy and neglect.

According to her account, the office lacks basic amenities, including functioning locks and sanitation facilities. Staffing is critically low, with only three regular employees and one DRW worker, supported by four casual staff members. Despite repeated appeals to authorities including the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) no action has been taken to address the deteriorating infrastructure or manpower shortage.

“What’s more shameful,” she added, “is that even the minister has visited the site and witnessed the condition firsthand, yet nothing has changed.” Other employees echoed her sentiments, expressing helplessness and a loss of morale.

This stark contrast between official claims and ground realities has raised questions about the department’s priorities. While the Power department continues to host elaborate events funded by the state exchequer, the operational condition of its offices remains dire. Staff say the situation has reached a point where the existence of the office itself feels symbolic rather than functional.
