Agartala, 25th September 2025:  The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has raised concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Tripura’s electoral roll, citing lack of transparency and alleged attacks on its members.

In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer, CPI(M) leaders criticized the SIR process for proceeding without adequate public or political party awareness. While acknowledging the importance of identifying fake voters, they stressed the need for a transparent, collective approach.

The party also cited recent violent incidents, including attacks on three CPI(M) leaders at Santirbazar and the demolition of the Pratapgarh Local Committee office. CPI(M) candidate Shyamal Debbarma was reportedly attacked by Tipra Motha members on September 22. The party noted continued threats have hindered the opening of several local offices since 2018.

CPI(M) requested a state-level all-party meeting to explain the SIR process and urged suspension of ongoing exercises until consultations occur. They also called for intervention to protect party members and uphold democratic rights.

The letter was signed by State Secretariat members Manik Dey, Naresh Jamatia, Sudhan Das, and Ratan Das.
