Agartala, 7th October 2025 : A wave of unrest has swept through the Gokulpur Agriculture Choumuhani area of Udaipur following an alleged assault that took place on Tuesday morning. According to reports, a local resident named Amar Dey has been accused of brutally attacking a young man, Supriyo Sarkar, from the same locality.
Sources indicate that the altercation stems from a dispute that occurred during Durga Puja immersion rituals on Dashami. The disagreement reportedly escalated, leading to the alleged assault early Tuesday. Locals rushed to Supriyo’s aid and arranged for his medical treatment.
The incident has sparked widespread tension in the area. Angry residents gathered outside the Udaipur RK Pur police station demanding the immediate arrest of Amar Dey.
Police officials confirmed that an investigation is underway and search operations have been launched to apprehend the accused. Meanwhile, several residents from Gokulpur Agriculture Choumuhani have filed written complaints in support of Supriyo Sarkar.
Authorities have intensified patrolling in the area to maintain law and order, as the situation remains volatile.
