Agartala, 7th October 2025 : In a heartfelt continuation of last year’s successful initiative, the women-led social organization Kanya Katha has once again undertaken the task of recovering and respectfully relocating abandoned Lakshmi idols from various corners of the city.

Following the Durga Puja festivities, many idols are often left unattended in alleys and public spaces. This year, as in the past, Kanya Katha volunteers have worked diligently to identify these idols and transfer them to designated, secure locations, preserving both cultural reverence and environmental responsibility.

Last year’s campaign was met with widespread appreciation and tangible success. The organization hopes to replicate that impact this year and aspires that growing public awareness will make such efforts unnecessary in the future.

“We sincerely hope that next year, this campaign won’t be needed. If citizens act with greater consciousness and care, we can ensure that our traditions are honored without neglect,” said a spokesperson from Kanya Katha.
