TWJA, North district committee submits memorandum to CM through DM

Agartala, July 22, 2022: Tripura Working Journalists Association, North Tripura District Committee members on Friday presented various demands and interests of all the journalists and non-journalists associated with state’s electronics media and print media to the Chief Minister through the District Magistrate of North Tripura district.

The 11-point charter of demands include- promulgate a media policy to protect the interests of working journalists and non-journalists, including salaries and allowances, enact Journalist Protection Act, the state government to take necessary steps to issue appointment letters to journalists, implement the salary scale proposed by EPF, ESI and Majithia Wage Board, withdrawal of family income order of Rs 3 lakh in the pension scheme announced by the government, ensuring the rights and safety of media and journalists to protect and strengthen democracy, police verification is mandatory while issuing accreditation certificate to journalists and minimum qualification is Madhyamik pass, issuance of accreditation certificate to District and Sub-Divisional Journalists on priority basis, and immediate introduction of Health insurance for journalists.

The representatives handed over various demands to District Magistrate Nagesh Kumar B including announcing housing scheme for homeless journalists and providing houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme on priority basis for journalists working at district and sub-divisional levels.
